This is a logo I recently designed for A Spark of Hope, a small business dedicated to finding loving homes for dogs, cats and horses. I thought it might be fun to share the process the client, Sarah, and I went through to finalize this design.
Sarah came to me looking for a hand-lettered logo that would be eye-catching and unique.
I started by sketching some ideas.
After Sarah approved the initial sketch, I cleaned it up, inked it and began the process of digitizing it in Illustrator.
Most of the time, you will find me working on my computer while sitting in bed re-watching Parks & Recreation on Netflix, but this time I stole away to Starbucks to clean up the logo while sipping from a red holiday cup {documented on Instagram...of course.}
Below is a simplified version of some of the changes we made from the initial hand-drawn sketch to the final design:
In the end, we decided to eliminate the bottom flourish in an effort to unite the horseshoe with the typography and balance the design.
This logo was incredibly fun & rewarding to work on. All are enjoyable - but a logo that incorporates hand-lettering with a little western flair is my absolute favorite!
